So I'm happy that Shinzo Abe resigned. He was a Japanese neoconservative who supported Bush's "war on terror." Now I hear he's in the hospital because of "stress." Jeez, what's going on with the LDP these days? I even hear they are thinking of bringing Koizumi back.

Fukuda is a by-the-book, cold and sober than Zen monks, perhaps capable (by the book), and very distant from average people. A son of former PM. Aso is just another right-wing, Yakuza-like dude in salaryman attire and hair-do, who happens to speak English like American bikers. Saw him address to foreign press in English - not impressed at all.
There isn't much meaning for the next PM if Liberal Democratic Party loses the next election.
And there aren't anybody who can and/or willing to perform as the PM, anywhere, even when possibilities from other policial parties. Kind of like who will be the next president of the U.S. Japan just lacks in anybody actually useful and capable. Unfortunately, I am afraid that that kind of state of the nation reflects the quality of the general public.
